– Why and when did you started as a referee?

– I saw a football game from Manchester United on TV and i wasn‘t happy with the desicions of the referee. So before i judged the man in the middle, I wanted to try to do better. I started as a referee when I was 15 Years old back in 2005 and i realized soon that it wasn‘t so easy as it looks like on tv. In 2010 i had my first game as a futsal referee. 


– What is the best thing refereeing international Futsal games?

– The best thing is to do what you love and in the same time having the opportunity to see different mentalities, different way of playing Futsal and meeting so many interesting people around the world. 


– Have you developed as a person due to being a futsal referee? And how?

– In Futsal as a referee you have to take fast decisions, being focused and dealing with people under pressure. All these aspects has a positive influence on myself. Referees learn to decide, learn to deal with difficult situations, making decisions and most important learn to take responsibility. 


– How we can get more people interested in refereeing Futsal?

– All the referees have an important role of doing publicity. If you love what you do, people around you will notice. If they notice, they start to be interested and maybe they will start the path as a referee. I think it is important to understand the role of a referee and to show all the good aspects this role can have in life. Clubs and the FA‘s should try to reach young people to start refereeing. Maybe some promotions in schools could also help.  


– A lot of referees are mentioning that we should work more with clubs and associations. Can you tell us more about what you think about that?
– From my point of view it's very important to work close with the clubs. For example after every change in the laws of the game and before the season starts, the clubs should have the possibility to have a exchange with the referees in neutral ground. The referees can explain the new laws and clubmembers have the opportunity to ask questions. With this kind of exchange, the respect between each other will grow and more people will understand the role of a referee. 


– You are here in Sweden because Elite Futsal Referees have a exchange program. Can you tell us more about that!
– Yes. It is a exchange progam for referees. It is a good thing for developing the level of refereeing. With this program young referees from the elite group have the opportunities to learn from different styles of refereeing, to communicate in different languages and to make their personalities stronger. The key to success in Futsal is easy: TEAM Work, only together we are stronger.


– Futsal is a growing sport! Why do you think it is growing?

– Futsal is a beautiful sport, not only for the people involved but also for spectators. It's fast, it's nice to watch, there are many goals and is always good weather. :-) Thanks to UEFA and FIFA with their developing programs for futsal, more football FA‘s get interested in developing the sport in their own countries. More and more kids are playing futsal. We have Women’s and youth competitions, champions league and all other big tournaments like in football. More and more people get involved into futsal because you only need a ball to play and five players of each team.
